Americans lived basically governing themselves and had little enforcement and interference with the British and its parliament. In the 1770’s after the French and Indian War, the British started to impose a multitude of laws and made sure to enforce them. This angered the colonists as they did not want to pay taxes and have to house British troops. There were protests, rebellions and violence acts directed towards the British parliament.
