Answer:

The New York City Conspiracy of 1741, sometimes referred to as the Negro Plot of 1741 or the Great Negro Plot of 1741, was a supposed conspiracy involving some 50 African slaves and a few poor white men to burn the town of New York City and murder as many white people as possible. The outcome of the revolt was that the city's militia organized a series of raids to find and punish the conspirators. In the end, 31 people were convicted of treason and related crimes, of which 21 were hanged and 14 were burned at the stake.
