Topic - Should owning exotic pets be illegal?
Claim - It should be illegal to own exotic animals under certain circumstances.
The exotic animal trade is a multi-billion-dollar-a-year industry. Millions of wild animals, including reptiles, large felines, nonhuman primates, and others, are being mistreated in private possession due to this fact. One might be taking an exotic animal as a pet with the idea that it's "cool", or even, possibly, that they are helping the pitiful creatures. But what is really happening is that these animals are being profited by corrupt associations as a result of people lacking knowledge about exotic animals.
