If so...

Seeing ( ) means multiplication. To start off easy, we see 2(8), which means 2 times 8

2(8) = 16

We also see 2(x-6). We'll do the same thing, but with each thing inside the ( )

2(x) = 2x

2(-6) = -12

Putting it together... 2x-12

And adding the 16 we found earlier

2x-12+16

Now to combine like terms.

-12 and 16 are like terms because there are no letters attached

-12+16 = 4
