Answer: $20

D (dog costs): 2C
C: cat costs

Set up an equation:54C+33(2c)=2400. It’s not 54C+33D, because with two variables you can’t really find the value of one. So I substituted 2C for D, because dog costs are twice the cost of cat costs. You get C=20.
