Answer: x = 3

Explanation:

Set the two equal to each other.

-5 (2x+1) = -35

-5 x 2x = -10x , -5 x 1 = -5

-10x -5 = -35

Add 5 to both sides.

-10x = -30

Divide both sides by -10.

x = 3
