The length of rectangle :10 feet

The width of rectangle : 4 feet

Given

perimeter of the rectangle :28 feet

let width of the rectangle be :x

and length of the rectangle be : 6+x (as per given condition)

therefore

perimeter = 2(length +width)

28 = 2(6+x+x)

28 = 2(6+2x)

28 = 12+4x

28-12 = 4x

16 = 4x

x = 4

as width of rectangle is : 4

similarly length : 6+x

6+4

:10

The dimensions of the rectangle are : length =10

width = 4

verification :

perimeter =2(l+w)

28 = 2(10+4)

28 = 28

the length of a rectangle is 6 feet longer than the width. the perimeter is 28 feet-example-1
