How can a black bear family have different colors?

(please help, I have to turn it in tomorrow and my science teacher is very very strict.)

Black bears can have different colors due to their habitat and adapting to their environment. The different colors in a family of bear is most likely due to a genetic variant that is similar to what causes albinism in humans. A mutation in a gene will cause an alteration in the coats pigmentation causing a different color fur.
