Answer: x=-13, y=-23

Explanation:

y in terms of x

-2x+y=3

y=3+2x

Substitute in other equation:

5x-4(3+2x)=27

5x-12-8x=27

-3x=39

x=39/-3

x=-13

Solve for y, substitute for x:

-2(-13)+y=3

26+y=3

y=-23
