Explanation:

First You need to find a common denominator between 5/8 and 3/5 so you can add them together.

The earliest common denominator between 8 and 5 is 40.

So you have to Multiply the numerator by whatever it takes the denomintor to reach 40.

So for 8 to reach 40 you have to multiply 8 by 5 so you must also multiple the numerator by 5 giving you 25 so your fraction becomes 25/40.

If you do the same for the other fraction you end with 24/40.

so 25/40 + 24/40 = 49/40 which is greater than 1
