$3x + 4y = 12 \\ x + 7y = 8 \\ x = 8 - 7y \\ 3(8 - 7y) + 4y = 12 \\ 24 - 21y + 4y = 12 \\ 12 = 17y \\ y = 0.705 \\ x = 8 - 7(0.705) = 3.065 = 3.07$
