The day had started out with the promise of a perfect summer day, but the heat was slowly building as the afternoon dragged on. My brother and I had decided to stay in and watch a movie on the television, but our plans were interrupted when the sudden and jarring words "Breaking News" blared through the speakers. We both jumped in surprise as the local news anchors announced that a dangerous storm was heading towards our town.

My brother and I scrambled to gather all the necessary supplies in case of an emergency, but in our haste he accidentally knocked over some of the furniture while moving it out of the way. Exasperated and scared, I shouted to him, "Stop doing that!"

My mother had been eavesdropping in the hallway and rushed into the living room. She quickly surveyed the scene and shook her head in disappointment. She looked at me and said, "Well, let's hope it never happens again."

We all anxiously watched the television, as the news anchor reported that the storm was getting closer and closer. Luckily, it ended up passing over our town with only minimal damage. We breathed a collective sigh of relief, and my mother thanked us for our quick thinking and preparation. As we all hugged each other tightly, I realized that even though we had gone through a trying experience, we had come out of it unscathed.
