Explanation:

UW must be equal to UV. the distance from the same point of origin of 2 tangents to their touching points in the circle must be the same.

so, UV = UW = 3

XV connects the tangential touching point with the center of the circle, and must therefore be perpendicular (90°) to the tangent UV.

we have therefore a right-angled triangle UVX and can use Pythagoras to find the Hypotenuse UX :

UX² = UV² + XV² = 3² + 1.6² = 9 + 2.56 = 11.56

UX = sqrt(11.56) = 3.4
