Cell division allows for cells to continue to grow and divide. this is important for the growth of a new baby because the baby needs cells in order to grow. as cells replicate, grow, and divide, the baby is able to grow.

Explanation:
Cells divide again and again to form a larger ball of cells, which is eventually implanted in the womb to grow into a child. The cells must continue to divide so that the baby grows.
