7²+ 4y + 4 = 7
calculate the power.
49 + 4y + 4 = 7
then, combine like terms.
53 + 4y = 7
rearrange variables to the left side of the equation.
4y = 7 - 53
calculate the sum or difference.
4y = -46
divide both sides of the equation by the coefficient of variable.
y = -46/4
finally, simplify.
y = -23/2
