Answer:

Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment over the recent newspaper report of the burning of a young woman as her parents could not meet the dowry demands. Even after 60 years of independence, it is disheartening to see that we have not progressed as a nation when it comes to the status of women in our society.

I firmly believe that the only way to improve the status of women in India is through a combination of education and legal action. Firstly, it is important that we educate both men and women about the dangers of dowry and the illegality of the practice. This can be done through school curriculums and mass awareness campaigns.

Secondly, stricter laws and harsher punishments need to be implemented for those who commit crimes against women, such as dowry harassment and domestic violence. It is also important that the government and law enforcement agencies take a more proactive approach in investigating and prosecuting these crimes.

Lastly, it is important that we as a society change our attitude towards women and recognize them as equal partners in the progress and development of our nation. Only then can we truly say that we have progressed as a nation.

Sincerely,

Naresh/Neetu
