Three brothers spent different amounts of money on their recent vacation. Matt spent $25 less than Todd. Jeff spent 3 times as much as Matt. How much did each brother spend if they spent a total of $275?

Todd spent 75, Matt spent 50 and Jeff spent 150

Explanation:

Matt = y - 25

Jeff = 3(y - 25)

Todd = y

y - 25 + 3y - 75 + y = 275

5y - 100 = 275

5y = 275 + 100

5y = 375

y = 375/5

y = 75.......Todd therefore spent 75 dollars!!
