4a^4-8a^2+4=0\implies 4(a^4-2a^2+1)=0\implies a^4-2a^2+1=0 \\\\\\ (a^2)^2-2a^2+1=0\implies (a^2-1)(a^2-1)=0\implies a^2=1 \\\\\\ a=\pm√(1)\implies a=\pm 1
