Hold fast to dreams

For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Answer:

All emotions are being rushed through the readers brain to show a sense of empathy.

The language used is contrasting each other as He goes on to say

"Hold fast to dreams" to "Frozen with snow"

Fast and frozen contrast each other
