What did Populists think about railroads?
It is not difficult to understand the antagonism between the Populists and the railroads in Kansas and the other states of the Western Plains. Their major complaint concerned freight rates. Kansas Populists claimed the rail rates farmers and shippers had to pay remained excessively high.
