(1)/(2) h (b₁ + b₂)

where h is the perpendicular height between bases b₁ and b₂

here h = 5 , b₁ = 8 , b₂ = 4 , then

(1)/(2) × 5 × (8 + 4) = 2.5 × 12 = 30 yd²
