Two angles are supplementary. The measure of one angle is 9° more than twice the measure of the other angle. What is the measure of the smaller angle?

If a = the measure of the smaller angle, we have:


\it a+2a+9^o=180^o\bigg|_(-9^o) \Rightarrow 3a=171^o\bigg|_(:3) \Rightarrow a=57^o
