Why would the colonies and the United States sign the Reciprocity Treaty? What was in it for the Atlantic colonies? What was in it for the United States?

They signed this treaty in order to eliminate customs tariffs and increase trade; replaced trade with the UK. This led to an economic boom in Canada.
