Answer:

x < -30

Explanation:

-1 / 5 * x – 2 > 4
-1 / 5 * x > 6

We divide both parts of the inequality by (-1 / 5). It must be remembered that when dividing or multiplying both sides of the inequality by a negative number, the sign changes to the opposite:

x < 6 / (-1 / 5)
x < 6 * 5 / -1
x < -30

Сheck:

for -29 (> then -30):
-1 / 5 * -29 – 2 > 4
3.8 > 4? - No

for -31 (< then -30):
-1 / 5 * -31 – 2 > 4
4.2 > 4? – Yes

The solution is right!

Explanation:

-1/5x - 2 > 4

-1/5x - 2 + 2> 4 +2

first you subtract 2. The two cancels out into 0 making the equation this

-1/5x x -1/5> 6 x -1/5

you multiply both sides by the -1/5 and if you divide or multiply a number over the inequality you must change the sign to the opposite one.

ANSWER:

x< -30
