Explanation:

Add the two equations together

10x + 0y = 100 (+6y + (-6y) =0)

10x = 100

x = 10

substitute x=10 into 3x-6y=40 (either equation is fine)

3(10) - 6y=40

30-6y=40

-6y=10

-(10)/(6)
