Answer:

mass of boy (M)=40kg

mass of jug(m)=5kg

both are at rest so (u)=0

v of jug=3m/s

v of boy=?

Now,

using PCLM

Mu+mu=Mv+mv

0=5*3+40v

v=-15/40 m/s
