Given rectangle IJKL

From the diagram we can write the length os sides

IJ=4

JL=

From the fundamental properties of rectangle

We can say each interior angle is 90°

Consider the above property we can say IJL is an right angle triangle

From the Pythagoras

The square of hypotenous side is equal to the sum of squares of the other two sides.

A²=B²+C²

JL²=LI² + JI²


( √(20) )^(2)=4^(2)+LI^(2)

LI²=20-16

LI²=4

LI=√4

LI=2

Therefore ,we have two sides JI(length) =4 and LI(breadth) =2

Formula for Perimeter of the rectangle=2(length + breadth)

Perimeter of the rectangle =2(4+2)

Perimeter of the rectangle=2(6)

Therefore,Perimeter of the rectangle = 12 units

Formula for area of rectangle=length*breadth

Area of rectangle=4*2

Therefore,Area of rectangle=8 square units.
