Mr. Elliot's class created a mural about Martin Luther King in their school.

The mural was 4.75 feet long by 3.25 feet wide. If it took the class 30 minutes to paint 1 square foot of the mural, about how long did it take them to complete the whole thing?

Answer: To find out how long it took the class to paint the whole mural, you need to first find out how many square feet the mural is. To do this, you can multiply the length and width of the mural together:

4.75 feet x 3.25 feet = 15.4375 square feet

You know that it takes 30 minutes to paint 1 square foot, so you can multiply the number of square feet by the time per square foot to find the total time:

15.4375 square feet x 30 minutes/square foot = 463.125 minutes

So, it took the class approximately 463.125 minutes to paint the whole mural. To convert it to hours, you can divide the minutes by 60:

463.125 minutes / 60 = 7.71875 hours

So, it took the class about 7.71875 hours to paint the whole mural.
