Mick's zoo offers a promotional deal: get a free $3 cotton candy and a free

$2 soda with the purchase of five $12 admission tickets. A group of 20
students will each purchase a ticket. If half of them want cotton candy and
1/4 of them want soda, how many dollars would they save by using the
promotional deal?

Answer:

A group of 20 students will purchase 205 = 100 admission tickets

Half of them want cotton candy, so 20/2 = 10 students want cotton candy

1/4 of them want soda, so 20/4 = 5 students want soda

So in total, they would save 103 = $30 on cotton candy

And they would save 5*2 = $10 on soda

Therefore, they would save a total of $30 + $10 = $40 by using the promotional deal.
