B using the perpendicular theorem

Since MB is a perpendicular bisector of JK , then JB = BK

and Δ JMK is isosceles with congruent legs , so

JM = MK ( substitute values )

9x - 18 = 3x ( subtract 3x from both sides )

6x - 18 = 0 ( add 18 to both sides )

6x = 18 ( divide both sides by 6 )

x = 3
