Kate’s father gave her a set of plastic building blocks as a gift. She spent many days arranging the blocks into various shapes. One day at Kate's school, the teacher asked the class to build a robot using the same plastic building blocks. Kate was the first student to finish building the robot. How was Kate able to complete her robot so quickly?

Kate was able to perform the task quickly because Kate's hands stored her past experiences with the blocks as memories, which allowed her to build a robot quickly.

What is learning?

The term learning has to do with the process by which an individual is able to accumulate experiences and be able to transfer these experiences into real life. The key word here is experience. As such, when we learn, what is essentially happening is that we are developing an experience that is transferable to a new situation.

In this case, Kate's father gave her a set of plastic building blocks as a gift. She spent many days arranging the blocks into various shapes. This is when Kate was able to get the experience that can be transferred to the task that the teacher has just given the class to carry out.
