Why would it be hard for Spain to govern its territories in North and South America?

I think I have the answer to that.
Because alot of Spain’s lands were so far away it would take a while for Spain to get to its lands and it was made worse during the Napelonic wars and it showed the colonies in South America that Spain was not capable of protecting them. I hope that answers your question.
