Given the system of equation

-2x + 2y = - 16 ..... *5

5x - 3y = 28 ....... *2

Use elimination method

Multiply equation 1 by 5 and equation 2 by 2

The equation becomes

-10x + 10y = - 80 ..... 3

10x -6y = 56 ....... 4

add equation 3 from 4;

10y - 6y = -80+56)

4y = -80+56

4y = -24

y = -24/4

y = -6

Subsitute y = -6 into equation -2x + 2y = - 16 to get x

-2x + 2(-6) = - 16

-2x-12 = -16

-2x = -16+12

-2x = -4

x = -4/-2

x = 2

Hence y = -6 and x = 2
