Write the slope-intercept equation of a line parallel to y = 3x + 2 that

contains the point (2, 1). SHOW ALL WORK.

Parallel lines have the same slope, in this case 3.

To find the y intercept we plug in the points (2,1) into y=mx+b, with 2 being x and 1 being y.

1=3(2) + b
Solve this and you get -5 as the y intercept.

The equation is y=3x-5
