Answer:

The Lying Rice Trader

Once there was a rice trader, who was known for being sly and greedy. One day, the trader loads 6 tons of rice on his truck, but said that it is only 5 tons to the driver so that he can save Rs. 500 in truck fares. The driver decides to trust the trader, and he drives along with the rice.

On the way, he is stopped by a man who was inspecting trucks. The driver explains what his cargo is to the man, and the man is suspicious. He asks the driver to unload that rice at the mill, and the driver agrees. The driver did not know that the miller was a good friend of the man, and the man had phoned the miller after sending the driver.

When the driver arrived, he unloaded only 5 tons of rice. The miller points out the 6th ton, and the driver is astonished. The miller tells him to tell the trader that the mill would keep the 5 tons, and that he could only keep the 1 ton to sell. The driver heads back, and angrily tells the trader of what happened.

The rice trader quickly phones the miller, who tells him "Because you trick the innocent to save your own possessions, those possessions do not deserve you." The rice miller becomes sad and remorseful, and gives the proper fare to the driver, as well as half the rice.
