In Nepal, districts come after provinces as the level two administrative units. Municipalities and rural municipalities are divisions of districts. Nepal has 77 districts and seven regions.
District representatives are:
The senior administrative officer in a district is designated by the government as the Chief District Officer, a representative of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The C.D.O. is in charge of conducting thorough inspections of all district agencies, including security, health, and education.
The District Coordination Committee serves as the District Assembly's executive. In order to establish coordination between the Provincial Assembly and rural municipalities and municipalities and to resolve any potential political disagreements, the DCC collaborates with the Provincial Assembly. Additionally, it upholds coordination between the district's municipal authorities and the provincial and federal governments.
History
Nepal was divided into 10 districts under the rule of monarch Rajendra Bir Bikram Shah and prime minister Bhimsen Thapa.
Dhankuta, the entire region east of the Dudhkoshi River, was one district.
Doti, Palpa, and Dhankuta were three gaunda (Nepali: ) during the Bir Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana (1885–1901) administration, which ruled Nepal from 1885 to 1950. (English meaning: Cantonment). Terai had 12 districts, while the Hilly region had 20 districts.
Nepal was split into 32 districts even after Bir Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana until the end of Rana rule in 1951 and up until the proclamation of the new constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal in 1962. Each had a headquarters with a District Administrator (Bada Haqim) in charge. Many laws and constitutions were passed between 1951 and 1962, and the names of the districts are shown here.
