Answer:

Explanation:

(a) 10p = 3p - 5

7p = - 5

p = -5/7

(b) a^0 = 1 no matter what a is.

(c) 0.5 y²/x

(d) 5cd²(2c² + 3d²)

solving for a variable:

  • isolate so that the desired variable is alone on one side of the equation
  • perform inverse operations

a)

10p=3p-5

7p=-5

p=(-5)/(7)

b) A simple rule to follow is that any number raised to the exponent of 0 is equal to 1

a^0=1

c)

  • cancel out common factors
  • when multiplying exponents with the same base add the exponents
  • when dividing exponents with the same base subtract the exponents

(xy^3)/(2x^2y) cancelled out the common factor of 3

(y^2)/(2x) note that
a^-^y=(1)/(a^y)

d)

  • find what is in common between the two terms
  • both have a CF of 5cd^2

5cd^2(2c^2+3d^2)
