(1)/(2) h (b₁ + b₂ )

where h is the distance between the parallel sides b₁ and b₂

given A = 1440 , b₁ = 54.6 , b₂ = 35.4 , then


(1)/(2) h (54.6 + 35.4) = 1440 ( multiply both sides by 2 to clear the fraction )

h × 90 = 2880 ( divide both sides by 90 )

h = 32

the distance between the parallel sides is 32 cm
