Answer:

  • 1 kg of apples cost £2.96

-----------------------------------------------

Let the cost of a 1 kg of apples be x.

Then pear costs x - 1.12 and banana costs x + 2.35.

The total cost is 25.02:

  • 3x + 3(x - 1.12) + 2(x + 2.35) = 25.02
  • 3x + 3x - 3.36 + 2x + 4.7 = 25.02
  • 8x + 1.34 = 25.02
  • 8x = 25.02 - 1.34
  • 8x = 23.68
  • x = 23.68/8
  • x = 2.96
