Political Turmoil in Venezuela
Residents of Venezuela have faced an increasingly chaotic political system in recent years. The country is currently governed by a Bolivarian socialist system, which is under President Nicolás Maduro. This type of socialist system is based on the thoughts of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, who died in
2013. Maduro has faced strong opposition from within the country and outside critics that have accused him of attempting to consolidate power for himself and his party, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.
Venezuela has faced multitudes of issues due to its socialist government. Inflation has reached a catastrophic level, with the country's currency, the bolivar, being devalued drastically over the years.
Consequently, unemployment and poverty have significantly grown, leading to an influx of Venezuelans migrating to other countries in search of better living conditions. In addition, Venezuela has struggled with food shortages, crime, and lack of access to medical care, causing many citizens to risk their lives to survive
