This statement is false. Newborn infants are able to recognize their mother's scent soon after birth, and studies have shown that they can differentiate their mother's scent from other scents within the first day of life. However, a newborn's vision is not fully developed and they are not able to see objects clearly until around 2-3 weeks of age.
