1) Plugging in point (-2,5) and slope m=7 into the slope-intercept formula to get the linear function we have:

5=7(-2) +b

5=-14+b

5+14=b

b=19

2) So we can state that y=7x +19 is the function we're looking for.

5 = 7(-2) + 19

5 = -14 +19

5 = 5 True
