the outer and inner triangles are similar then the ratios of corresponding sides are in proportion, that is


(y)/(11) =
(8+3.2)/(8) =
(11.2)/(8) ( cross- multiply )

8y = 11 × 11.2 = 123.2 ( divide both sides by 8 )

y = 15.4
