You are given the line, y=-2x-5. This line is in slope-intercept form, y=mx+b, where m is the slope (or gradient) and b is the y-intercept.

The gradient of the given line is -2 and the y-intercept is -5.

We know this equation is in slope intercept form
y = mx + b
So
m = slope
b = y intercept

Gradient is the same as slope. Slope is “m” the coefficient next to the x, so your slope is -2.
Your y intercept is “b” so it is -5, where your line crosses the y axis.
