Think about the recent events involving mass shootings. Since 2018, roughly your 6th grade school year there have been roughly 85 mass shootings domestically here in the United States. Construct an AEC response with defensible evidence on whether or not there should be more gun control in the United States. Consider the alternative perspective, cities such as Chicago and New York have some of the strictest gun laws in the world however also have some of the highest homicide rates every year. Use at least TWO pieces of evidence to defend your claim.

Final answer:

In the debate over gun control, advocates of stricter measures argue that access to guns is related to mass shootings, while gun rights advocates believe it is incidental. The effectiveness of gun control measures is a complex issue that involves various factors. It is important to consider all available evidence and perspectives before making a decision.

Step-by-step explanation:

In the debate over gun control in the United States, there are arguments from both sides. Advocates of stricter gun control argue that there is a clear relationship between access to guns and mass shootings. They believe that implementing stricter gun control measures would help reduce these incidents. On the other hand, gun rights advocates argue that access to guns is incidental and that restrictions on gun ownership violate individuals' rights. Some also point to cities like Chicago and New York, which have strict gun laws but still have high homicide rates, as evidence that strict gun control may not be effective.

However, it's important to note that the issue of gun control is complex and multifaceted. While there is evidence to suggest a relationship between access to guns and mass shootings, it is also important to consider other factors such as mental health, socioeconomic factors, and cultural influences.

To make an informed decision on whether or not there should be more gun control in the United States, it is crucial to examine all available evidence and consider the different perspectives on this issue.

Answer: there should be more gun control, here are two basic reasons why;

1: less guns accessible to the public, less mass murders. also, school shootings are pretty much a daily thing for American schools and that's just sad. It shouldn't be normal or normalized.

2: There should also be more gun control in the US because the wrong people can get guns in their possession, threatening lives of countless people. There should be laws or extra security/validation systems made in order to prevent this, e.g more thorough background checks and record searches.
