In the sport of volleyball, there are six players on the court for each team at one time.
In official volleyball games, a set is typically played to 25 points (with a 2-point lead required to win). In international competitions and some other high-level matches, sets may be played to 20 or 21 points instead, and the lead must be 2 points to win the set.
A match typically consists of playing the best out of five sets.
Volleyball was first introduced by William G. Morgan in 1895 at the YMCA in Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA as a combination of basketball, baseball, tennis, and handball.
