2x - 9 = 39 ( add 9 to both sides )

3y - x = 2y - 1 , that is

3y - 24 = 2y - 1 ( subtract 2y from both sides )

y - 24 = - 1 ( add 24 to both sides )

y = 23 ← is correct

∠ R = 3y - x = 3(23) - 24 = 69 - 24 = 45° ≠ 27°
