Finding My Balance
One day, my friend emailed me to join him at the skating rink. I replied, saying that I had some errands to run and would not be able to join him. I always wanted to learn how to skate but was too anxious about doing it right. I went to have lunch, and as I was sitting down at the kitchen table, Mom asked me if I was distressed about something. So, I told her that my friends knew how to skate and that I wanted to learn too but was terrified of falling down and hurting myself in the process. Mom replied, "Lex, falling and standing back up again is how you will learn to do things correctly." She then proceeded to show me an online video, in which a baby goat was trying to stand on its feet but was falling down constantly. However, the goat was trying to recover from the fall and stand back up again. Finally, at the end of the video, the goat was able to stand correctly and walk on its tiny feet.
