Isolating for a variable: rearranging an equation so that a variable is on its own. This is done by performing inverse operations until a variable is isolated.

P-9=-3w+9-9

p-9=-3w

(p-9)/(-3)=(-3w)/(-3)

-(P-9)/(3) =w
