LAKES:

  • They are bodies of water surrounded by landmasses
  • They have slow-moving currents
  • They are defined as inland depressions filled with water
  • They are formed by glacial imprints left through moving glaciers, and changes in plate tectonics.
  • They have a vast surface area
  • They are homes to complex ecosystems
  • They are mostly freshwater

PONDS

They are similar to lakes but are small in size as compared to lakes.
